Throughout our lives, positive and negative changes are inevitable. A new baby, loss of a loved one, graduating from school, employment changes, or transitioning from addictive and unhealthy behavior into a life of healthy, worthwhile experiences are all examples of significant life changes. While some can meet these changes in life and keep on going with a smile on their face, others experience anxiety, depression, and distress.
Life Transition Education at The Counseling Center consists of learning to handle these shifts with grace and patience, helping us understand, accept, and move forward without falling into depression, becoming consumed by negative emotions, or seeking the temporary numbness of drugs or alcohol. Life transitions are part of life and learning how to adapt to change healthily and productively, is the goal of life transitions education.
